I, Michael Hoffmann, am running for Mayor of Warrenville with a strong commitment to protect taxpayers, enhance transparency and addressing the real issues that impact residents. As a dedicated advocate for responsible leadership, I’m focused on reversing the course set by the current administration, which has allowed critical safeguards to slip through the cracks.
Under the current leadership, the Tax Cap, which had been in place for 19 years, expired in November 2024. This will lead to a dramatic increase in city property taxes, from 3.4 percent to an alarming 6.9 percent. I believe this tax increase is unfair to homeowners and residents. I am determined to protect families from burdensome taxes by championing more sustainable fiscal policies.
Additionally, I am deeply concerned about the city’s decision to condemn private property for non-essential uses, such as the construction of a bike path on Mack Road. I believe that the city should prioritize essential services and projects that benefit the community at large, rather than taking private property for recreational amenities that do not serve the core needs of all Warrenville residents.
One of my core principles is Transparent Communication. I will always be available to listen to the questions, comments and concerns of the community. Understanding the importance of keeping residents informed, I will distribute a monthly newsletter that provides clear and detailed updates on key city issues—cutting through the fluff to focus on what truly matters.
Finally, I am committed to addressing the Environmental and Flood risks facing Warrenville, particularly in relation to DuPage County’s stormwater management. The growing concerns about flooding and the long-term effects on our community must be taken seriously. As mayor, I will ensure that Warrenville works closely with the county to monitor stormwater management and protect our environment for future generations.
As Mayor, Warrenville will experience a shift toward sensible, transparent, and responsible governance.
Accomplishments:
I have been fighting for the residents of Warrenville before I was an alderman, and I will continue to fight when I become Mayor.
